Robert James Byrd, known professionally as Boobyday, was an American rock and roll and R&B musician born on July 1, 1930, in Fort Worth, Texas. He moved to Los Angeles at age 15 and began performing with the Hollywood Flames. Day is best known for his 1958 hit “Rockin’ Robin,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He also wrote “Little Bitty Pretty One,” popularized by Thurston Harris, and “Over and Over,” later covered by the Dave Clark Five. Day passed away from prostate cancer on July 27, 1990, in Los Angeles.
